Some of the main duties of nurses include:
Patient Assessment: Evaluating patients' condition and gathering the necessary medical and nursing information to determine their health needs and develop an appropriate care plan.
Care Plan Implementation: Carrying out prescribed procedures and treatments according to each patient's specific plan of care.
Administration of Medications and Treatments: Preparing and administering medications and treatments, monitoring their effects and ensuring that they are applied correctly.
Follow-up of the health condition: monitoring the condition of patients, following up the improvement or deterioration of health, and dealing with any changes in the condition.
Providing psychological and emotional support: providing psychological support to patients and their family members and dealing with the emotional challenges that they may face during the treatment period.
Communication with the care team: Collaborating with doctors, nurses, and other health professionals to achieve the best care outcomes for patients.
Providing guidance and education: directing patients and their families about the health condition and the proposed procedures and providing the necessary health education.
Contribute to the development of health practices: Participate in the activities of developing practices and improving the quality of health care.
Nurses must be registered and licensed to practice and must have good communication and interaction skills and empathy with patients and their family members. The profession also requires the ability to deal with emergency situations and control the increasing pressures at times.
